Well, the cover offers excellent protection, whether we are talking about physical damage or elements. The vinyl is sufficiently sturdy to sustain a couple of direct hits without tearing, but staying flexible enough for a smooth roll-up end set up.

But first things first – we will start with the positives.

Much like the previous product, this one is yet another Nissan Titan retractable bed cover that is mounted to your vehicle with clamps (no need for drilling) and easily rolls up when you unload the cargo. As for materials, they are simply great – the frame is as heavy-duty as it gets (not too heavy, though), and the cover is made from quality leather-embossed vinyl. You get the idea.

What’s more important is that all these things perform quite well when you finally put them to use. The installation is effortless (once again, under 10 minutes), and the material is flexible enough to be easily rolled out in the case of an emergency.

Another great thing is that the vinyl is pretty durable and doesn’t bend under pressure (e.g., heavy rain), which keeps the bed as tightly protected as it gets.

But, here lies the only major flaw we have experienced with this product. The cover we got was not correctly cut. That faced us with minor but constant leakages.

Also, we have to give a special shout-out to the stylish matte finish you can find all around this unit. This design choice does not only make the cover look incredibly mean but also offers excellent protection against UV damage, marks, and scratches.

Now, what are the downsides?

Well, as you can expect, mounting such an elaborate cover is far from a summer breeze. If you want the cover to work correctly, you need to be damn precise. And then there is the issue of the price which is far out of reach of an average customer.

This is a product that seems to check all the right boxes. At least the most relevant ones. At first glance, MaxMate Soft Roll Up shares a lot of the same DNA with the first product we have reviewed.

What are we talking about? Well, for a start, the cover is made from military-grade 24-oz vinyl, it features similar horizontal crossbars, and uses similar sidebars as Tyger’s product. And yet, during weeks of testing, we simply felt this package ended up more polished.

For instance, the tension system in this unit works far better and single-handedly eliminates the problem with roll-ups we have experienced with other products. Once you find the appropriate tension, the vinyl will feel smooth, air-tight, and completely wrinkle-free.

The aluminum side-rails are also very durable. The manufacturer states that they were made from the same materials used in the aircraft industry. Nothing we have experienced during testing goes against these bold claims.

When you put these two things together, you get a cover that easily deals with anything the local weather can throw at your favorite trucks. We even put the vehicle through a couple of repeated automatic washer treatments and experienced only minor leakages.

On the other hand, the cover is somewhat tricky to mount, and the instructions you get in the package are not making this story any more pleasant. But that’s something we can live with.

5. RDJ Trucks Travel-PRO 65-Series Hard Tonneau – Solid Folding Bed Cover (2017-2024 Nissan Titan)

And for the very end, we have another product that tries to sway the Nissan Titan owners with robust aluminum bed panels instead of going down the easier route and covering the bed with a single-piece vinyl cover.

And once again, we had a great time testing the product. It’s hard to put the overall experience in words, but having your cargo protected by durable aluminum slabs makes an entirely different experience than covering the bed with a sheet.

So, the materials are great, the matte surface keeps the UV rays and minor scratches away, and we can say that the very plates work like a charm. But, in order for this type of tonneau covers to work, you need to have excellent sealing (aluminum can’t be stretched and sealed with Velcro).

Unfortunately, this is the area where this product falls slightly short. The so-called Q-seals that protect the cargo by latching the aluminum panels to side rails, front rail, and tailgate cap are far from the best we have seen on the market.

Don’t get us wrong, they do a more than decent job at keeping the water out of the vehicle’s bed, but we would lie if we told you the panels were able to completely keep the water out.

But on the other hand, RDJ’s entry on this list is also a couple of hundreds of dollars cheaper than its direct aluminum-clad competitor, which is something you should definitely keep in mind. If you are not living in a rainy area, this package is a steal.
