Extang Trifecta 2.0 Versions

The Trifecta 2.0 has been made for quite a few trucks and in more than one style.

Dodge RAM

When it comes to the Dodge RAM, the Extang Trifecta 2.0 fits the 2019-2020 “New Body Style” RAM with a 5’7” truck bed. It will not fit in case of a malfunctioning tailgate.

Ford F150

If you own a Ford F150, you should check out this one; it fits the 2004-2008 models with 5’6”, 6’7”, and 8’ bed. It also comes in two different, equally cool designs – leather grain vinyl and premium canvas.

Extang Trifecta 2.0 Features

As I mentioned earlier, there are numerous things you have to take into account upon pondering whether to buy a tonneau cover or not.

To get a better idea of what Extang Trifecta 2.0 really is, check out the following paragraphs, and then you can safely decide if this one is the right cover for you.

The Material

The Trifecta 2.0 comes in a couple of material options – leather grain vinyl and premium canvas.

The leather grain vinyl is a heavy-duty fabric with smooth and clean lines. It deflects water and keeps the inside of your truck bed safe from harmful outside elements. Not to mention that the material is marine grade, and therefore it’s resistant to fade, making it ultra-durable.

If you go with the one made of canvas, you can rest assured it’s a high-quality material built to be resistant to dirt, which makes this topper ideal for anyone who lives in dusty or sandy areas with a lot of wind.

And what about the frame?

Good news – the frame is made of aircraft-grade aluminum. This material is at the same time lightweight, so maneuvering the cover is struggle-free, and it’s heavy enough to provide you with protection against harsh weather. Still, it’s worth noting that Trifecta 2.0 is a soft cover, and they can never compare to hard ones, at least when talking about protection.

One thing I appreciated about Trifecta 2.0 is that the leather-grained fabric comes with an integrated corner tuck system that enhances tarp tension, so you don’t have to worry about wavy and unsecured bed covers when you go 0 to 60 in just a few seconds on an open road.

The Design

What I really liked is that Trifecta 2.0 boasts a low-profile design, so it takes the look of your truck to the next level.

The low-profile design combined with the sleek black color of the tarp makes one awesome-looking tonneau cover.

As for the type, Extang Trifecta is a soft tri-fold cover. What does this mean?

Well, it means that you get some protection from both severe weather conditions and lurking eyes that want to see what you carry in your truck bed.

As the name suggests, a tri-fold cover folds in three places, so you have relatively enough control of the covered/uncovered space. Not the same as with soft roll-up covers, though.

Some of the best soft roll-up tonneau covers allow you to reveal/hide as much of your cargo as you wish, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I suggest you turn your focus on the roll-up type.

Still, with Trifecta 2.0, you can keep open one or two-thirds of your truck bed, or even the whole thing. Essentially, whether you’ll go with a roll-up or a tri-fold cover is up to you.

The Set-Up

Much as any tri-fold tonneau cover, Trifecta 2.0 is also not complicated to install. The whole process shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes, and detailed instructions come with the product.

Plus, it really helps that the cover comes fully assembled. To attach it to your truck bed, pull down each of the two EZ-lock clamps, fold the cover twice, buckle to the cab, and you’re good to go. The clamps are located at the tailgate, and they keep the cover locked in place.

It’s just as easy to remove the tarp as it is to install it; it takes only about half a minute to do it.

Performance

If you’ve stuck around this far, I’m sure you can already tell how Trifecta 2.0 performs based solely on its construction, design, and choice of materials.

The secret to Trifecta 2.0’s performance lies in its redesigned aluminum frame, double pivot MAX hinges, and corners that provide great strength. In addition to this, the cover features snap-on seals that ensure high weather protection.

However, keep in mind that this is a soft tonneau cover, and you can’t expect it to act as a hard cover. When it comes to the ultimate level of protection, hard tonneau covers are still unsurpassed.

Extang Trifecta 2.0 – Final Word

Hopefully, my Extang Trifecta 2.0 review has made it easier for you to make a decision. If you’re still second-guessing it, my advice would be to just go for it; the chance you’ll regret it is zero to nothing.

I admit it was challenging finding a flaw in the Trifecta 2.0 tonneau cover, as far as soft covers go.

One minor and unavoidable shortcoming of any soft cover, including Trifecta, is that they don’t guarantee the same protection from extreme conditions as hard covers do.

That being said, I don’t think we should underestimate this one; it’s got a few tricks up its sleeves.

All things considered, Extang Trifecta 2.0 is a high-quality tonneau cover that comes at a shockingly reasonable price, so I would recommend giving it a shot.

Nevertheless, if you do need that top-tier protection level, take a look at these hard tonneau covers. I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.
